As the year comes to a close and the winter season settles in, December at Urban International School is a time for reflection, celebration, and connection.

From wrapping up the semester to sharing meaningful moments across our community, this month reminds us of the warmth found in learning together and looking ahead to the year to come.

January

UIS Expanding and Exploring the New Facilities

UIS opened the New Year with the new facilities in 2025.

This year, we gained a new gym, a theatre stage, a science lab with more classrooms fore students to study in.

March

UIS Festival

For the first time, we held UIS Festival / UIS University Fairs. Students from outside were invited. Many food vendors like Chunchun Hotdog and bubble tea vendors were invited, as well as universities and colleges like TMU, YORK, Guelph, UWaterloo, Laurier, Seneca and Humber. The day was filled with a lot of excitement and information for the future.

UIS Graduation

Farewells to the graduating class is always difficult. It was especially hard this year because we had such a hard working bunch, who had shown an outstanding academic performances which reflected on their university application results. Congratulations once again! Come and visit us soon.

FUN SCHOOL TRIP on the Rollercoaster

This is an annual trip to the Canada’s Wonderland-the one and only amusement park! UIS students wait for this day to happen, and the weather was thankfully just right for the students to enjoy their rides.

Record Breaking Scholarship News!

Graduating class 2024-2025 truly out did themselves this year. The scholarship amounted to over $ 3 million and got into prestigious universities across Canada and around the world. It is even reassuring to hear back that the students have been doing excellent in their first term at the new school. Keep it up UIS Alumni!

IMMERSION Program has arrived

UIS IMMERSION Program is a long prepared program that was designed specifically for ESL students in hope to help with their adjustment and their academic performance.

Immersion students learn the basic terminologies to the English spoken within the course. For example, the word, “matter” is used differently in English than it is in Chemistry. The word, “rational” is different from math than if it is being used in English. Learning to distinguish the meaning has shown to bring up their grades in September!

Student BBQ

What is a summer without a sizzling grill! UIS Annual BBQ was held in August. UIS students enjoyed the BBQ lunch, followed by fun activities and games prepared for them by the staff.

UIS only University Fair

New School Year started with a great start!

We held our very own University Fair this year. 20 somewhat universities and colleges were invited to UIS to inform our students on the school, programs as well as the application procedures! It was a very informative day!

October

UIS Halloween Sports Day

Who says Halloween can only be with the treats. It is our custom to enjoy this day with sweats and fun. Teamwork with classmates for a winning goal is always the best experience, especially when there is no scare attached to it.

November

IELTS TEST on Site

UIS is a proud registered IELTS Testing Centre. This gives a convenience, but also a comfort for our students, relieving them of the anxiety. UIS students had the leisure of taking their very first IELTS test November this year at the comfort of their own classrooms.

2025-2026 University Acceptances Began and UIS Pathway continues

We are thrilled to announce that UIS has just signed a new partnership with York University! Through this pathway program, UIS students will be considered for admission without English test with required Grade 12 English score. We are truly happy for the new partnership and new opportunities for UIS students for the prestigious education.

We are simply happy with this MOU because this is a recognition for our continued effort in UIS’ academic and pressuring us to work even harder uphold the academic standards. We will continue to produce world-class learners who can paint a bright future globally.
