The strength of our community and wholehearted passion to make our school a wonderful learning place for our international students makes UIS a truly special place. UIS welcomes students from all over the world and supports them in every single step they need to take in order to become a UIS student. Our team takes pride in being extremely supportive and caring assisting students with every aspect of their lives while they are studying and living in a new country.

Our Story

Urban International School (UIS) is a private high school in Toronto inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education in Ontario, Canada. Over the last decade, we have offered specialized academic courses that are designed for students who wish to pursue higher education in Canada and around the world. Based on the program students wish to pursue in post-secondary school, UIS prepares a customized study plan that underlies one of our four streams: Engineering, Science/Math, Business, Arts or College. Most of our graduates are accepted in prestigious universities such as the University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, McGill University, among many other Canadian and international universities.

UIS has a friendly and dedicated team of Ontario-certified teachers who teach courses from Grade 9 to Grade 12 to a diverse student body that includes students from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and South America.

We were founded in 2009 with a vision to provide superior academic content while supporting and nurturing students from all over the world.

In 2012, we changed our name to Urban International School. Offering a broad range of courses, UIS was quickly recognized as a benchmark for academic excellence.

In order to facilitate our growth, we moved locations to the one we enjoy today. Located in the heart of the city, students are able to experience Canadian culture every day!

With the addition of new management, UIS acquired additional facilities and increased its presence in the Toronto Community.

A new campus was added for ESL learning and lower grades located in the North of Toronto.

When COVID-19 resulted in the closure of schools, UIS was one of the first schools in North America to stay open and transfer from in class to hybrid and online learning. UIS students did not miss a day of learning and completed their courses on time.

UIS has continued to view the pandemic as an opportunity to continue to enhance our strong commitment to providing academic excellence and unprecedented student support through hybrid and E-learning courses.
